We specialize in teaching young students to read
Reading is the doorway to educational success. If a student can read well, that student can study and learn any subject. However learning to read in a group situation can be a frustrating experience. If a student is away from school due to a cold or flu, he or she may miss critical information and then feel confused when back in the class. While teachers will usually do their best to bring the student up to speed, that can be difficult with a classroom full of students.
The other side of the coin is the child who is ready to move on but is bored because the teacher is having to repeat material for those who were absent.
When a child is learning one-on-one, he or she is never left behind or bored by too much repetition. If unable to come for lessons one week, the student can pick up right where the last lesson finished. And the student can move forward at his or her optimum pace.
Additionally, some students will feel embarrassed to ask questions in a group situation. And it is hard to build up a rapport with a teacher when you are just one of 20 or 30 other students. In one-on-one lessons, the student feels free to ask any question without concern about other students. As a result, any confusions get handled right away. Further, there is no competition to answer the teacher's questions: the student gets to answer them all, building confidence in the process.
With many years of experience, our tutors are experts at introducing children to the joys of reading and handling difficulties before they turn into problems.
